So you have got your nice shiny website and a database full of products now you need to integrate with a payment provider!

Theres so many to choose from all with different features and pricing structures which one should you use?

Over the years we have integrated payment systems for hundreds of websites but generally the payment systems are all of a certain few as discussed below:

The Cheaper Solutions

www.paypal.com - Generally everybody has heard of this one, certainly those who use ebay will be aware of it! Its completely free to sign up for an account and trading online couldnt be easier. Paypal offer all the tools you need to communicate with your website and confirm payments have been made etc.

Pros:
  • Free signup
  • easy to integrate
  • several integration methods
Cons:
  • It doesnt always portray a professional image for an e-commerce company.
  • it can sometimes be slow
  • users are sometimes put off by it
www.google.com/checkout - Google checkout is a new payment system from the worlds most popular search engine. Its very comparible to paypal.

Pros:
  • Free signup
  • easy to integrate
  • several integration methods
  • no merchant account required
Cons:
  • It doesnt always portray a professional image for an e-commerce company.
www.nochex.com - Another simple payment system to integrate with cheap and cheerful!

Pros:
  • £50 registration fee
  • Quick and simple to setup
  • No merchant account required

Cons:
  • Purchases over £100 require users to be registered
The Better Solutions

www.worldpay.co.uk - Probably our favourite of the payment systems.

Pros:
  • Easy to use
  • Good fraud prevention
  • Highly customisable
  • Simple to integrate
  • Merchant Account provided by worldpay
Cons:
  • Probably the most expensive solution
  • Wait of up to 8 weeks to recieve funds
  • Monthly fees
www.protx.com - Very cheap but sometimes troublesome payment system

Pros:
  • Cheap transactions
  • Several different integration methods
Cons:
  • Sometimes unreliable
  • No merchant account supplied
  • Harder to integrate
www.hsbc.com - Good for anyone using hsbc business banking

Pros:
  • Corporate Solution
  • Professional Look for your business
Cons:
  • Hard to integrate
  • custom libraries and executables are needed some hosting companies may not allow this.
www.barclays.com - Good for anyone using barclays business banking

Pros:
  • Corporate Solution
  • Professional Look for your business
Cons:
  • Hard to integrate
